Jump On Board Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour: Nevada Reading Week 2014

Donate new and gently used children’s books at partnering locations throughout the valley
to receive great offers this February

Harrah’s Headliner and Comedy-Magician Mac King invites the public to jump on board Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour: Nevada Reading Week 2014, benefiting Clark County READS, the literacy initiative of The Public Education Foundation. Throughout the month of February, King is partnering with the Las Vegas Wranglers, Sky Zone Las Vegas, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria and Galaxy Theatres locations in Las Vegas to collect books for elementary school children in local at-risk schools. Donate three or more new or gently used children’s books at partnering locations to receive a pair of tickets to The Mac King Comedy Magic Show in addition to other exclusive rewards from the host venue.

For four days beginning March 4–7, during Nevada Reading Week 2014, King will make appearances at four select local elementary schools to teach the importance of reading and personally deliver the books collected from the book drive. During the tour’s scheduled stops, King will perform tricks from his show, read a few short stories and deliver a book to each student to keep.

“Since the tour began in 2011, my pals from around the Las Vegas community and I have put more than 7,500 books in the hands of kids in at-risk schools in the Valley. This year the tour has grown bigger than ever with even more of my partners on-board to collect books and further enrich the lives of children through reading,” said King. “Join Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour by making a donation and help us make 2014 a year for the books!”

About Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour:
Comedy-Magician Mac King has been a life-long advocate for childhood literacy and since settling down in Las Vegas, has made it his mission to promote literacy in Southern Nevada.

For years King has visited local elementary schools, spreading the importance of literacy to local students. In 2011 King decided to take his philanthropic efforts to the next level and launched Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour, a citywide literacy initiative to foster the love of reading and rally community organizations to raise books for Las Vegas school children.

The tour kicked off during Nevada Reading Week 2011 and since then has collected more than 7,500 books by partnering with several local organizations including: Las Vegas Wranglers, Springs Preserve, Winder Farms, Sky Zone Las Vegas, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria and Las Vegas 51’s Baseball Team.

About Mac King:
Now in his 14th year of headlining afternoons at Harrah’s Las Vegas, Comedy-Magician Mac King captivates audiences as he casts out a fishing line over their heads and catches live goldfish out of mid-air, performs amazing sleights-of-hand, makes his head completely disappear in a paper bag, and renders himself invisible, all while remaining unbelievably funny. Because of his quick wit and extensive audience interaction, no two shows are alike.

Sought after worldwide, King has made television appearances on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” and all five of NBC’s “The World’s Greatest Magic” TV specials. Consistently recommended by fellow magicians, Teller of Penn & Teller fame, said about King “The best comedy magician in Vegas. He’ll fool you with his fantastically original tricks…” in a recent Wall Street Journal article. He has been recognized with numerous accolades including “Best Las Vegas Show” in the 2012 About.com Reader’s Choice Awards. Las Vegas Review-Journal named his show the “Best Bargain Show” for ten straight years (2003-2013), “Best Family Attraction” in 2012, and “Favorite Male Las Vegan” in 2008. In 2011, he was deemed “Best Strip Headliner” in the Las Vegas Weekly’s “Best Of” Awards. King, a past NBC-TV “The World’s Greatest Magic Shows” regular, has also been decorated as Magic Magazine’s “Funniest Act in Magic,” the World Magic Awards’ “Best Comedy Magician” and the Magic Castle’s “Magician of the Year.”

King, one of today’s brightest and most talented magicians, takes the stage twice daily, Tuesday through Saturday, at Harrah’s Las Vegas at 1 and 3 p.m. in the Showroom Theatre. Tickets are $29.95 plus tax. Additional information on The Mac King Comedy Magic Show can be found by visiting www.mackingshow.com.
