The UNLV men’s basketball program has received a signed commitment from Julian Rishwain to join the Runnin’ Rebels for the 2024-25 season, head coach Kevin Kruger announced Thursday.

Originally from Los Angeles, the 6-foot-5-inch, 200-pound guard will transfer to UNLV from Florida, where he played during the 2023-24 season. He spent the previous three years at San Francisco and played at Boston College as a freshman.

“Julian is a great addition to the Runnin’ Rebel family,” Kruger said. “He brings an impressive skill set that includes being an elite shooter who also has the ability to make plays for others. He possesses a winning mentality with a wealth of experience playing on two NCAA Tournament teams.”

Rishwain has scored over 650 points in 115 career games during his collegiate career, while shooting 36% from 3-point range.

A critical part of San Francisco’s NCAA Tournament run in 2022, he averaged 7.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 43% on 3-pointers that season. He scored a career-high 25 points at BYU and had 20 points in the 2022 WCC Tournament Championship game vs. top-ranked Gonzaga.

Rishwain has been a part of three straight 20-win seasons and has made 140 3-pointers in college.

He attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, where he was a first-team All-Mission League performer, a Los Angeles Daily News First Team All-Area selection and was nominated for the 2019 McDonald’s All-American game.

Rishwain joins Jailen Bedford, Jeremiah “Bear” Cherry, James Evans, Jaden Henley, Pape N’Diaye (pronounced: POP EN-jie) and Jace Whiting as incoming players to the Runnin’ Rebel program for the 2024-25 season.

2023-24 SEASON RECAP: The Runnin’ Rebels are coming off their best season in over a decade as they were invited to the postseason for the first time since 2013 and won their first postseason game for the first time in 16 years. In his third season at the helm, Kruger led the squad to 21 wins for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign and guided the team to a 12-4 record over its final 16 games.

UNLV recorded its first win over a top-10 team in four years, its first in non-conference play in nine seasons and beat a total of four ranked teams in a single season for the first time in 11 years. Mountain West Co-Freshman of the Year Dedan Thomas Jr. set the Mountain West’s assists record with 174, also leading the nation in assists among freshmen.
