FERRARO’S RISTORANTE ANNOUNCES MARCH 16 TASTE & LEARN
FEATURING WINES FROM CASTELLO DI GABBIANO
Ferraro’s Ristorante invites guests to experience its next Taste & Learn on Saturday, March 16 at 5 p.m. Taste & Learn is Ferraro’s popular, wine-tasting event that provides illuminating wine education along with a menu of imaginative, authentic Italian small plates created by Executive Chef Mimmo Ferraro.
The March Taste & Learn event spotlights wines from Castello di Gabbiano, a historic winery dating back to the 11th century. In attendance for the event will be Federico Cerelli, Castello di Gabbiano’s head winemaker since 2011, who will speak about the winemaking process. With a passion for wine rooted in heritage, Cerelli first learned about wine from his grandfather, a hobby winemaker. He then attended the University of Florence to study enology and viticulture. Today, he has accumulated more than a decade developing expertise in the Chianti region of Tuscany. Cerelli is also a proud member of the DOCG Chamber of Commerce, which recognizes the highest quality Italian wines, and an educator at ONAV Florence, Italy’s national organization of wine tasters.
Known for their clay, limestone and stone-rich soil, the Castello di Gabbiano vineyards provide the highest quality grapes for winemaking. The winery is also renowned for expertly blending time-honored traditions of the past with modern technology for exceptional results.
Taste & Learn attendees will begin the tasting with a medium-bodied pinot grigio offering hints of white flowers and dried herbs. Second on the menu is the Chianti Classica Riserva, an aromatic, ruby red wine with notes of ripe cherries and mocha. Next is Alleanza, a medium- to full-bodied dry red wine featuring the perfect blend of citrus and earthy fragrance. Lastly, guests will conclude the tasting with a Chianti Classico Bellezza, a fine and well-balanced red wine made from sangiovese grapes.
“The March Taste & Learn will be a Tuscan wine lover’s dream,” said Mimmo Ferraro, executive chef, Ferraro’s. “We’re honored to welcome Federico Cerelli, and our guests can look forward to an enlightening event as he shares his expertise with us all. Of course, Castello di Gabbiano’s red and white wines are nothing short of spectacular, and I’ve made sure each dish on the tasting menu perfectly complements these outstanding selections.”
