March First Friday Las Vegas – It’s Easy Being Green
The monthly arts and culture turns downtown Las Vegas green
with multiple activations to help Mother Earth
The First Friday Las Vegas arts and culture festival continues to evolve and draw huge crowds from around the valley and beyond for a night of art, music, food and more. First Friday recently celebrated 10 years of art and community in downtown Las Vegas, and this month’s event on Friday, March 1 celebrates Mother Earth and how easy it is to be green. First Friday is committed to leaving no trace downtown and work each month to leave 100% no waste.
FIRST FRIDAY LAS VEGAS HIGHLIGHTS:
ARTS DISTRICT
Location: Casino Center and Colorado Ave.
Art Style: Emerging and established artists, arts, crafts
Activities:
5 p.m. – 10 p.m. First Friday Las Vegas showcases 75+ artists, 15 live bands and DJ’s on four stages, 25+ food trucks and more. This month’s First Friday will be filled with environmentally minded artists, foods and more to show attendees how easy it is to be green. Jam-packed with activations on sustainability, First Friday will highlight urban gardening, Farmer’s Markets, reducing the carbon footprint and organic living this month. Join Star Nursery at the Welcome Tent at the entrance of First Friday, near Charleston and Casino Center, and receive free seedlings (while supplies last) to grow desert friendly plants at home.
5 p.m. – 10 p.m. The Hub, First Friday’s newest meet-up point and central hangout, will have assorted interactive activities to enjoy all evening. Flameology is back this month with another fiery performance at 8 p.m. Social Paintbrush will be offering free art lessons at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The Art of Law will be offering free seminars on basic legal issues inside their tent located on the corner of Casino Center and California Ave.
5 p.m. – 9 p.m. The KidZone presented by The Chuck Jones Experience will be bustling with family activity featuring art lessons by animators responsible for some of pop culture’s most beloved cartoon characters. World-class animators provided by The Chuck Jones Experience will be on-hand to provide pointers to little artists-to-be with their expert advice. Trevor Carlton will bring his expertise and energy to KidZone. Carlton will be doing demonstrations throughout the evening and creating full paintings. Join him and let the kids learn first-hand. The Animal Foundation will host an Adopt-A-Rescue-Pet this month. Boys & Girls Club will be saluting Dr. Seuss in celebration of his birthday and his legendary body of work this month. Kids can make their own “oobleck” to take home while Seuss’ stories are read aloud.
5 p.m. – 10 p.m. Green Street hosted by Living EcoSmart Solutions is the place where First Friday patrons can learn about spreading the love to the environment and a great place to hang out, listen to music and make friends. Learn all about sustainability, water conservation and much more through multiple vendors. Inspired by post Hurricane Sandy, Las Vegas middle school students will display three model cities they have created. The future cities are meant to demonstrate the benefits of strong water management and sustainability. Enjoy tower gardens, recycled art, electric cars, eco-friendly cleaning products, biodegradable supplies, the Vegas Roots Community Garden and so much more this month.
DOWN 3RD
Location: Imperial and 3rd Street
Activities:
5 p.m. – 10 p.m. The delicious food provided by Las Vegas’ best food trucks can now be found on Third Street between Colorado and Imperial. Stop by the bar located on 3rd and Colorado for specialty cocktails.
HOURS OF OPERATION:

PARKING/SHUTTLES:
Shuttle service will run from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m.
Four Open Top Sightseeing Shuttles, two Celebrity Coaches and an additional handicap equipped shuttle will make a constant loop around the entire event route.

In 2011, the arts and culture festival welcomed a new ownership group, First Friday Las Vegas, LLC, comprised of Zappos.com executives Tony Hsieh, Fred Mossler and Steve Hill, as well as downtown developer Andrew Donner and executive producer Joey Vanas.
