HUSTLIN’ REBELS RETURN HOME TO HOST BULLDOGS

The UNLV baseball team (7-11, 3-3 MW) is finally returning to the friendly confines of Earl E. Wilson Stadium for the first time in nearly three weeks. After a 10-game road trip, the Rebels host the Fresno State Bulldogs (10-9, 4-4 MW) for a three-game Mountain West series beginning Friday at 6:05 p.m. The series will continue Saturday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. and the finale is set for Sunday at 12:05 p.m.

Fresno State comes into this weekend’s contest after a 2-2 week, taking two of three games against New Mexico over the weekend before falling to Long Beach State Wednesday evening.

UNLV comes in after securing its first conference win against UNR over the weekend, taking two of three games, (11-4, 10-11, 9-5 (11 inn.)). The Rebels’ midweek tilt against California Baptist on Tuesday was canceled because of bad weather.

Friday:
– It’s $2 Dos Equis with Smoke’n’ Sams while supplies last.
Sunday:
– $5 mimosas and bloody mary’s with Smoke ‘n’ Sams while supplies last.
– Kids 12 and under will be able to run the bases after the conclusion of Sunday’s contest.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
– UNLV and Fresno State have squared off a total of 109 times with the first-ever meeting taking place in 1977. The Bulldogs currently hold the all-time series record, notching 63 wins to UNLV’s 46. However, the Hustlin’ Rebels took the series over Fresno State last season, two games to one.

ON DECK
UNLV will return to the Las Vegas Ballpark to host a single-game contest against ASU on Tuesday, March 28 at 6:05 p.m., before hitting the road to Colorado Springs for a three-game series against the Air Force Falcons set to begin Friday, March 31 at 12 p.m. (PT).

– Edarian Williams has a 10-game hitting streak.
– Jacob Sharp holds a five-game hitting streak with nine hits.

– Reese Lueck received the first weekly award for the Rebels, being named the Freshman of the Week following UNLV’s perfect opening weekend February 20.

– Sharp leads the MW in on base + slugging percentage (1.204), sits second for home runs (6), he is tied for second in HBP (4) and tied for third in RBIs (20), ranks third in batting average (.397), is tied for fourth in runs scored (20) and is tied for fifth in hits (27).
