Las Vegas’ own, Jo Koy, makes his return to the Treasure Island Theatre March 18 at 9 p.m.
From renting out the historic Huntridge Theater to filling the showroom at Treasure Island, Koy has entertained audiences in Las Vegas and beyond for more than twenty years with impressions and stories, uproariously focused around his family, especially his mother and son.
After years pounding the pavement as an up-and-coming Las Vegas comedian, Koy broke wide with performances on “The Tonight Show” and “Comic View” and began touring relentlessly, on USO and Def Jam Comedy tours, on Carlos Mencia’s “Punisher” tour and with Chelsea Handler and Jon Lovitz.
Since then, Koy has appeared in numerous shows and specials including “Comedy Gives Back,” “Jaime Foxx Presents: Laffapalooza,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Last Call with Carson Daly” and various VH1 specials.
He also voices several caricatures on “The Adam Carolla Show” podcast including a Japanese competitive food eater, a P.F. Chang’s host and Bung Lu Soo, an aspiring singer. A new episode of Koy’s podcast “The Michael Yo and Jo Koy Show” is available on iTunes every Tuesday.
Koy starred in two of his own specials on Comedy Central, “Don’t Make Him Angry” in 2009 and “Lights Out” in 2012. He was also a regular panelist on “Chelsea Lately,” appearing on more than 100 episodes from 2009 through the finale last year, and appears on Chelsea Handler’s Netflix project “Chelsea Does.”
Koy’s stage name comes from the Filipino term “Jokoy” which means joker and was his childhood nickname.
