HOW TO PREPARE FOR AN EMERGENCY: SEPTEMBER’S COMMUNITY SAFETY FORUM AT THE MOB MUSEUM

Presented in Partnership with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, American Red Cross, Sponsored by NV Energy

WHAT:
The Mob Museum, The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, hosts its next Community Safety Forum on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. Presented by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), the topic of this forum will be Emergency Preparedness. The forum is free to the public and includes free Museum admission, thanks to sponsor NV Energy. Live-streaming of the event will be available on the Museum’s website.

This discussion will address the top five emergency scenarios that could affect Clark County, including earthquakes, extreme weather, wildfire, pandemic and hazardous materials. Southern Nevada is particularly vulnerable to disaster because no food is grown in the region and the area’s main fuel line originates in California. This program, created by the American Red Cross, educates individuals on preparedness in emergency and disaster situations. As part of the presentation, attendees will learn the basic tenets of emergency preparedness planning, including having a water, food and medical plan; family and neighborhood planning; and how to put these plans into action. Registration is required for this event.
