Goodwill to Open First of Four New Stores & Donation Centers on March 27, 2015 at 9 a.m.
First New Store is at American Pacific & Stephanie in Henderson
Get ready Goodwill shoppers.
Goodwill of Southern Nevada will open its new Henderson location at 1390 American Pacific Drive (at Stephanie, across from the DMV) on Friday, March 27 at 9 a.m. to lines of eager shoppers.
“A new Goodwill store opening is always an event that draws crowds,” said Chris Matlock, Goodwill of Southern Nevada Vice President of Retail and Operations. “We stock the new store with fresh merchandise that has never before been on a sales floor. Our customers know there are bargains to be found.”
The new Goodwill Store and Donation Center at 1390 American Pacific Drive replaces an existing store at 2851 N. Green Valley Parkway that will close Thursday, March 26, after being open for more than 15 years.
The new 16,000 square foot building offers the non profit more than double the space of the previous location, including a 10,000 square foot sales floor and convenient drive-thru donation center. Most importantly, by expanding the Henderson store fifteen new jobs were created.
“Goodwill’s mission is to help members of our community work no matter disability or circumstance,” said Steve Chartrand, President & CEO of Goodwill of Southern Nevada. “Not only does this new, larger Henderson location create jobs but the additional revenue will help fund our life-changing job training and placement programs.”
In 2014, Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s Career Connections helped 2,361 people in Southern Nevada get jobs, and provided training, job search or other supportive services to more than 12,800 individuals. Goodwill’s help is offered at no cost.
The opening of the relocated Henderson store kicks off a year of new Goodwill store openings. This American Pacific & Stephanie location is the only relocated store. Three other brand new Goodwill locations, Lake Mead Blvd & Civic Center, Silverado & Bermuda, and Durango & Deer Springs are currently under construction, with opening dates to be announced soon. Groundbreakings for two of these stores occurred October 2014.
In all, the expansions will create around 100 new jobs in Southern Nevada.
