Powerful new listening experience allows audiences to hear the whole picture

Galaxy Cannery Theatres, located at Cannery Casino & Hotel in North Las Vegas, recently added Dolby® Atmos™ to its exclusive Digital Fusion Experience (DFX) auditorium which will open with the midnight showing of Man of Steel on Friday, June 14. The Galaxy Cannery Theatres DFX auditorium, which features a wall to wall and floor to ceiling 65 ft. screen, is now the largest Dolby Atmos location in Las Vegas; providing a powerful new listening experience to the 500 seat theatre.“Galaxy Theatres is always working to provide the best movie-going experience and Dolby Atmos helps us do that. The system allows sound to come from anywhere which draws audiences into the story and makes you feel as if you’re in middle of the action like never before,” said Rafe Cohen, president of Galaxy Theatres. “It really is terrific.”

Dolby Atmos is a break-through, next-generation audio solution that changes the way people experience entertainment sound. Dolby Atmos places sounds anywhere in the auditorium, delivering a unique and compelling experience with natural and lifelike soundscapes, surpassing anything else currently available in theatres. Dolby Atmos has quickly become the preferred choice for next-generation sound in the cinema with major studios, directors, sound teams and exhibitors from around the world adopting the solution.

“With Dolby Atmos, filmmakers can now position and move sounds precisely anywhere in the theatre, even overhead, to heighten the realism and impact of every scene,” said Tim Schafbuch, Sales Director, Cinema, Dolby Laboratories. “We are sure that Dolby Atmos will provide an extraordinary experience that will keep moviegoers coming back for more.”

Galaxy Theatres exclusive DFX auditorium features a high frame rate 4K digital projector from Christie Digital. This digital projection system offers viewings of digitally created movies with ultimate color and clarity along with the new Dolby Atmos sound technology to produce a powerful, lifelike movie experience. The auditorium is also equipped with a MasterImage 3D Projection System.

About Dolby Atmos:
Dolby Labs is equipping the cinema world with its new Dolby Atmos technology. Dolby Atmos unleashes the potential of sound in storytelling by providing sound experts the creative freedom to easily place or move specific sounds anywhere in the movie theatre, not just where there happen to be speakers. The result is what moviegoers have described as the most engaging and lifelike cinema sound experience ever.

Introduced in April 2012, Dolby Atmos has been embraced by major studios, award-winning directors and sound teams, and leading exhibitors worldwide. More than 40 films around the world have been released or are scheduled to be released with Dolby Atmos sound since the first film was released in June 2012. In 2013, the Cinema Audio Society gave Dolby Atmos its coveted Technical Achievement Award for Post Production.
