ATOMIC MUSEUM LAUNCHES “REBEL WEDNESDAYS” WITH COMPLIMENTARY ADMISSION FOR UNLV STUDENTS, STAFF STARTING WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16
The Atomic Museum announces the launch of “Rebel Wednesdays,” a new initiative offering complimentary admission to UNLV students and staff—plus one guest—every Wednesday. This distinctive promotion is designed to foster a deeper connection between the museum and the UNLV community while providing accessible opportunities to explore the history associated with the Nevada Test Site, now known as the Nevada National Security Sites, and the nation’s nuclear weapons program.
To kick off the new program, the Atomic Museum will host a special open house on Wednesday, April 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. During the extended hours event, UNLV students and faculty with valid university ID can explore the entire museum for free, including Atomic Odyssey, the museum’s newest immersive and interactive exhibit. Museum staff will be stationed in the lobby to showcase select artifacts and answer questions, providing guests with a behind-the-scenes look at the museum’s ongoing efforts to preserve and interpret atomic history. Complimentary admission on this date includes one guest per attendee, and pre-registration is required.
Beginning the following week on Wednesday, April 23, UNLV students and staff can continue to enjoy complimentary admission to the Atomic Museum from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Wednesday through August 27. Each eligible guest may also bring one additional visitor at no cost. The promotion does not include special ticketed events or organized education programs.
“This initiative is a great opportunity for the Atomic Museum to engage with the next generation of thinkers and innovators right here in our community,” said Matt Malinowski, director of education, Atomic Museum. “We’re elated to welcome UNLV students and faculty to explore the museum, discover our exhibits and learn more about Nevada’s pivotal role in atomic science and history.”
