FERRARO’S TO OFFER WINES FROM LIVIO SASSETTI AT NEXT TASTE & LEARN EVENT, APRIL 28

Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar’s next Taste & Learn will take place on Saturday, April 28, at 5 p.m. and will spotlight the exceptional wines from Tuscany’s Livio Sassetti.

Each month, Taste & Learn offers food and wine lovers a chance to learn about some of Italy’s best wines, which are paired with small plates prepared by award-winning Executive Chef Francesco DiCaudo. This educational epicurean experience represents one of Las Vegas’ most informative—and enjoyable—food and wine-tasting opportunities.

The family of Livio Sassetti has produced wine in Montalcino for over three generations. Livio was one of the founders of the Consorizio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino—the association started in 1967 by winemakers, dedicated to safeguarding their wine and on accentuating its qualities. His winery is in Montosoli, one of the premier areas in Montalcino. Livio’s mission and passion has always been to produce wines in the traditional Italian style. So devoted is the family to tradition, it maintains a collection of old vintages—the company’s historical memory—that today it consists of almost 1,000 bottles, including one that could be termed ‘the great-grandmother’ of current productions, a bottle dated 1915.

The evening’s menu will include:

Sassetti, Chardonnay 2016
Ricciola
Mediterranean amberjack, ricotta cheese, peas

Sassetti, Monecucco Rosso IGT, 2013
Topinambur
Roasted sun choke salad

Sassetti, Rosso di Montalcino, 2012
Risotto alle Erbe
Herb risotto, pecorino cheese, carrots

Sassetti, Brunello di Montalcino, 2012
Porchetta
Braised pork belly, lentil, baby kale

Under the direction of Gino Ferraro, Ferraro’s wine selection places special emphasis on presenting a broad and deep range of Italian wines, such as Barolo from Bartolo Mascarello, Bruno Giacosa and Giacomo Conterno; Barbaresco from Marchese dei Gresy and Produttori del Barbaresco; Brunello from Biondi Santi; Amarone from Bertani and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo from Emidio Pepe. Ferraro’s has been recognized with Wine Spectator’s “Best of Award of Excellence” and the Wine Enthusiast award.
