FERRARO’S TO FEATURE FLAVORS OF FRIULI AND THE PIEDMONT FOR MARCH’S “TASTE & LEARN” WINE-PAIRING EVENT
On Saturday, March 23 at 5 p.m., Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar will be taking guests on a journey offering incomparable flavors of Friuli and The Piedmont, featuring wines from four distinctive winemakers. Each month this popular monthly gathering offers award-winning, high-quality Italian wines and authentic wine education, along with expertly paired, delicious Italian accompaniments prepared by Executive Chef Francesco DiCaudo.
To start the evening, guests will taste a Pinot Grigio crafted by Borgo Magredo. The winery is located in Grave del Friuli in Italy’s north, which encompasses 200 hectares of vineyards and is known for its scientific and botanical approach to selecting the best vine clones for the terrain and, consequently, growing exceptional grapes, providing a link between classic traditions and the future.
Next, guests will be treated to the noble Nebbiolo grape as embodied by the Manzone Giovanni winery’s excellent Barolo Bricat. Manzone is located in the town of Monforte d’Alba and prides itself on its commitment not only to exceptional wine production, but also sustainable and ecologically sensitive growing and winemaking methods.
Our second, exquisite Barolo of the evening, Barolo Bussia, will come from The Piedmont’s famed Fratelli Giacosa winery. The family that has owned it since the late 19th century originally bought it with winnings from a lottery–and they’ve been winning the wine game ever since.
We shall cap off our evening together with another Piedmont wine—this time a refreshing Moscato d’Asti from Luccio–which Chef will pair with a delicate panna cotta dessert.
Of course, Chef Francesco DiCaudo has prepared some of his typically imaginative dishes to accompany each of these wines. The full menu follows:
Pinot Grigio, Borgo Magredo, 2017
Calamaro
Vegetable-stuffed squid
Barolo Bricat, Manzone, 2011
Tajarin e Quaglia
Rosemary-flavored tagliarini, escarole-quail ragoût, gorgonzola cheese fondue

Nocetta di Capriolo
Pan-roasted deer, potato, butternut squash, civet coffee sauce
Moscato d’Asti, Luccio

Tickets for the all-inclusive experience are $75; and the event sells out each month as space is limited. Make reservations now for the February Taste & Learn by phone at (702) 364-5300.
