Easter Seals Nevada Awarded $20,760 from MGM Resorts Foundation to Help Build Employment Programs
Funds will help Nevadans with disabilities receive vocational training
to seek and prepare for jobs in Las Vegas community
Easter Seals Nevada, the nonprofit that serves more than 8,000 Nevadans with disabilities every year, was recently awarded a generous $20,760 grant from The MGM Resorts Foundation to strengthen its employment programs and provide the necessary training to help place individuals with disabilities and other employment barriers.
“Every dollar makes a difference at Easter Seals and the funds from MGM Resorts Foundation will provide valuable pre-vocational and vocational training to adults with disabilities,” said Brian Patchett, President and CEO of Easter Seals Nevada. “Our clients feel a sense of pride when they support themselves, contribute to their family households and interact with peers in a work setting. A strong employment program is crucial to helping them receive the necessary training to become more independent and self-sufficient.”
Easter Seals Nevada will use the grant to create workshops focusing on building skills for the workplace such as how to interact with peers and superiors in the work field, how to take directions and the importance of being punctual. Supplemental training videos will also be incorporated in the programming.
“The services Easter Seals provides are critical to the wellbeing of many in our community who are sometimes overlooked,” said Shelley Gitomer, Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Engagement for MGM Resorts International. “It’s our pleasure to present Easter Seals with yet another MGM Resorts Foundation grant and further support their efforts to help southern Nevadans with disabilities.”
Easter Seals Nevada strives to create solutions that help people with disabilities become self-sufficient through education, community partnerships and direct services.
