Create A Change Now, a local charity teaching at-risk students to plant, grow and cook fresh, healthy meals in order to prevent childhood obesity, will host its first annual Edible Education Dinner at Panevino Ristorante on Saturday, October 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “Food For Thought” focusing on nutritional benefits of proper fats, which aid in brain functioning. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the organization’s mission and Healthy School, Healthy Life program.
Hosted by 98.5 KLUC’s Chet Buchanan, the event will feature live entertainment from local vocalist Christina Amato, guest speakers Samuel Hickson from Cleveland Clinic and Carolyn Matzinger, M.D, and a silent auction featuring an array of exciting and delightful items.
Cleveland Clinic representative, Samuel Hickson, LSW, MSSA, is a social worker in the Patient and Family Services Department at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Hickson currently serves to evaluate the biopsychosocial needs of individuals and families facing neurodegenerative diseases and will discuss how nutrition plays a crucial component in optimal brain health. President and CEO of Matzinger Institute of Healing, Matzinger holds extensive training and occupational experience in Anti-Aging, Internal and Regenerative Medicine, pushing her to the forefront of her specialty. In 2005, Matzinger was named Physician of the Year and received The Golden Stethoscope Award from St. Rose Dominican Hospital.
