Yesterday, the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum hosted a songwriter round with Martina McBride and songwriters associated with her career in support of the current exhibition Martina McBride: The Power of Her Voice. McBride discussed her creative process and shared stories behind her music with songwriters and collaborators Chris Lindsey, Aimee Mayo, Leslie Satcher and Brett Warren in the museum’s Ford Theater.

During the program it was announced that the exhibit will be extended until July 2023. The exhibit encompasses the singer’s journey from performing in her family’s band as a child to becoming an award-winning country music artist known for substantive and socially aware hit songs.

The songwriting round was filmed and will premiere on Oct. 25, as part of the museum’s Live at the Hall digital programs series—available to stream on the museum’s YouTube channel, Facebook page and website.

Husband-and-wife songwriters Chris Lindsey and Aimee Mayo were co-writers on McBride’s singles “Cry, Cry (’Til the Sun Shines)” (with Marv Green and Hillary Lindsey) and “This One’s for the Girls” (with Hillary Lindsey). Sara Evans, Lonestar, Tim McGraw, Kellie Pickler, Blake Shelton and others have also recorded Chris Lindsey and Aimee Mayo’s songs. As one half of the Warren Brothers with his brother Brad, Brett Warren co-wrote McBride’s “Wrong Baby Wrong” (with Robert Ellis Orrall and Stephen Barker Liles), “Anyway” and “Teenage Daughters” (the latter two with McBride). Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Faith Hill, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Jerrod Niemann and others have also recorded songs by the Warren Brothers. Together, Lindsey, Mayo and the Warren Brothers co-wrote “How I Feel” with McBride. Leslie Satcher wrote McBride’s “For These Times” and “When God-Fearin’ Women Get the Blues,” as well as songs recorded by Deana Carter, Kellie Pickler, George Strait and Pam Tillis.
