COUNTDOWN BEGINS TO MANDALAY BAY RESORT AND CASINO’S DARTS EXTRAVAGANZA

THE most colourful and energetic audience in Las Vegas is preparing their fancy dress and “180 card” messages ahead of the return of darts’ biggest names to the Strip from July 5-7.

The South Pacific Ballroom at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino will host the North American Darts Championship and U.S. Darts Masters as the likes of World Champion Rob “Voltage” Cross and world number one “Mighty” Michael van Gerwen do battle on the oche.

The thrilling on-stage action, which sees $120,000 in prize money on offer, is matched by the incredible atmosphere created by fans decked in fancy dress cheering on their favourite superstars.

Darts fanatics on official trips from the UK mix with international holidaymakers and players from the U.S. and Canada who entered the event’s qualifiers to watch the three days of action.

Thursday, July 5 will see eight domestic qualifiers contest the North American Darts Championship, won in 2017 by South Dakota policeman Willard Bruguier and offering a place in the World Championship for this year’s champion.

Eight of the world’s top stars then join their north American rivals to compete on Friday, July 6 in the opening day of the U.S. Darts Masters.

The action then concludes on Saturday, July 7 with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final of the U.S. Darts Masters, where Dutchman Van Gerwen is the reigning champion.

Alongside Van Gerwen and new World Champion Cross in the field of international heroes is colourful Peter “Snakebite” Wright, who sports a multi-coloured mohawk and painted hair to match his unique outfits.

Two-time World Champion Gary Anderson, multiple title winner James Wade, young prospect Michael Smith, Northern Ireland’s rising star Daryl Gurney and former rugby star Gerwyn Price will also compete in Las Vegas.

With “180 cards” to write your messages on and the world-famous walk-ons for players to the stage, this is your chance to get on BBC America’s coverage or high-five the biggest names in darts.

Whether you’re wearing the shirt of your favourite player, special fancy dress or beach shorts and Hawaiian shirt, you’ll love being part of July’s most fun event!

Play will commence at 12 p.m. from July 5-7 in the South Pacific Ballroom at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Tickets available now from axs.com or via mgmresorts.com/mandalaybay.
