INAUGURAL POKER TOURNAMENT AT
PLANET HOLLYWOOD RESORT & CASINO
Tournament to Benefit Three Square Food Bank;
Players Can Win $1 Million For Flopping Royal Flush
As part of Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort and Casino’s “Phamous” series, the Charity Series of Poker’s (CSOP) first tournament will be a $260 +$40 No Limit Hold’em poker event beginning at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2014. Players will have the chance to re-buy and add to their chips stacks for $100 during the first hour of the tournament.
Half of the money raised through buy-ins, re-buys and add-ons will be donated to Three Square Food Bank, a non-profit organization committed to ending hunger in Southern Nevada. The remainder of the funds will be distributed among the tournament’s top finishers.
When asked why CSOP selected Three Square Food Bank as the charity partner, Matt Stout, a professional poker player and CSOP founder said, “Three Square does great work throughout Lincoln, Nye, Esmeralda and Clark counties here in Nevada. Last year alone, the group distributed more than 30 million pounds of wholesome food to people in need. We share Three Square’s passion for helping people and ending hunger. So, it was an easy to decision to work with Three Square and give back to our community.”
CSOP was founded to give professional card players, celebrities and amateurs the chance to help others while playing the game they all enjoy. Its mission statement reads in-part, “Established in 2014, the Charity Series of Poker is a non-profit company founded to organize and promote charity poker tournaments and other events that raise money and awareness for worthy charities and causes.”
In addition to Stout, some of poker’s seasoned professionals and rising stars are involved with CSOP, including Chris Moneymaker, Mike Matasow, Matt Salsberg, Greg Merson and Sasha Barrese. Matt Savage, former World Series of Poker Director, and Michael Frazin, former WPT-R Champion, serve on CSOP’s Board of Directors.
In addition to cash prizes, several additional prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in the tournament. First through fourth place will receive Monster DNA Headphones, while fifth through ninth place will receive Monster Mobile PowerCards, all courtesy of Monster Products and the first 250 players will receive a gift bag for participating in the tournament.
