Local artist and former UFC Octagon Girl Brittney Palmer to unveil new portrait of Oscar Goodman that will adorn steakhouse entrance
Former mayor and reputed mob attorney Goodman will make celebratory toast
Oscar’s Steakhouse at the Plaza Hotel & Casino commissioned Brittney Palmer, who has an accomplished art career that spans more than a decade as well as an award-winning 16-year tenure as a UFC Octagon Girl, to paint a new portrait of former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman that will hang at the entrance of the steakhouse. The artwork will be unveiled on Thursday, June 20 at 5 p.m., with Oscar Goodman making the celebratory toast.
Created in Palmer’s signature style, the commissioned piece is a custom acrylic portrait on canvas measuring 48 by 48 inches.
“It is a true honor to be asked to paint the iconic Oscar Goodman for the Plaza Hotel & Casino,” said Palmer. “Being raised in Las Vegas, I feel that he is one of the most legendary faces in the city. I was asked to use my staple colorful, abstract portraiture style, and I am so excited to present it to the property and the former mayor!”
Long known as a staunch supporter of incorporating thought-provoking pieces of art at the Plaza, most significantly with three 21-story murals on the exterior of the North Tower, Plaza CEO Jonathan Jossel sought out Palmer for the piece. “Brittney is a distinguished artist with a unique and colorful style that will add a modern flare to the vintage Vegas ambiance of Oscar’s steakhouse,” said Jossel. “This project was a great way to support a local artist who continues to make a name for herself in the art world, and to pay tribute to Oscar after 12 years of partnership.”
Goodman added, “I love the burst of color. It captures my persona at Oscar’s. A place of fun and energy. Just what Las Vegas is all about. I am honored by Jonathan’s commitment to making the experience there exciting and classy and using the portrait to convey that.”
