California Guitar Trio Returns to UNLV Performing Arts Center’s Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall, Nov. 4

The UNLV Performing Arts Center (UNLV PAC) welcomes the return of California Guitar Trio (CGT) to the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. Originally scheduled for a date later in Nov., this concert is sponsored by Dr. Mitchell and Pearl Forman.

Since 1991, the trio—Bert Lams, Tom Griesgraber and Paul Richards—has captivated audiences by seamlessly crisscrossing genres. The trio explore the intersections between rock, jazz, classical, and world music. Music fans will delight in their performances of the occasional surf or spaghetti Western tune.

After 31 years and over 2000+ gigs later, the CGT remains committed to exploring, evolving, and communicating a wide-ranging musical worldview. CGT’s 21 albums, streamed over 115 times on various streaming platforms, offer unique glimpses of the group’s dazzling musicianship. Beloved by many fans, the CGT’s music was used in coverage for the Olympics and in programs on CNN, CBS, NBC, and ESPN, and used by NASA to wake the crew aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavor.

CGT’s most recent studio release, “Elegy,” contains beautiful originals and innovative cover arrangements of Beatles, Radiohead, and more. Other highlights include “Masterworks,” an album of classical works with new takes on Bach, Beethoven, and Schubert. Another album, “Andromeda,” combines their many influences into a visionary album of original material.

The heart of CGT lies within the unique, personal connection the group creates with audiences. Their shows are full of captivating stories and humor that enable concertgoers to feel as if they are not just spectators, but a part of the music. The group’s goal is to transcend their instruments to allow people to focus on the music first with their considerable technical prowess a distant second.

The performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall. Single tickets are priced at $35 (discounts available) and are on sale now. Tickets may be purchased by telephone at 702-895-ARTS (2787), online at pac.unlv.edu or at the UNLV PAC box office from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. When purchasing a ticket, consider donating to UNLV PAC to provide local students the opportunity to work with all the outstanding artists.

About UNLV Performing Arts Center
The UNLV Performing Arts Center is the original home for the arts in Southern Nevada; it opened in 1976, celebrates its 47th season in 2023/24, and welcomed more than 60,000 people last year. A self-sustaining unit of UNLV, the PAC operates like many other arts organizations: costs for shows we produce, some facilities improvements, and other projects we undertake come from ticket sales, rentals, and donations. It hosts a variety of performances and events and is home to self-produced events plus productions of the Nevada Conservatory Theatre, UNLV School of Music, UNLV Dance, the Las Vegas Men’s Chorus, among many other community arts presenters, and various Clark County School District fine arts festivals and concerts.
