Starting Thursday, Feb. 13, Body English Nightclub debuts POPLIFE, a new weekly throwback experience on Thursdays for fans of the ‘80s and early ‘90s. Body English will take revelers on a journey back in time by offering a fully-immersive experience featuring the fashion, fun and of course, hottest music of the two decades remixed by DJs Hass Deniro and Mikey Swift. POPLIFE will feature weekly hosts and performances by some of the biggest artists and celebrities of each era.
Top-selling R&B/pop act Color Me Badd will kick off the first throwback event on Feb. 13. The trio will dip into its musical archives and perform classics including “I Adore Mi Amor,” “All For Love,” “I Wanna Sex You Up,” and more. Color Me Badd’s debut album sold more than six million copies worldwide and went triple platinum in the United States.
On Feb. 20, resident DJs Deniro and Swift will take over the dance floor with their remix of ‘80s and ‘90s videos and club classics. In addition to Color Me Badd and Vanilla Ice, the duo will play artists such as RUN-DMC, Madonna, Bell Biv DeVoe, Lisa Lisa, Sir Mix-A-Lot and much more.
Rapper Vanilla Ice will have partiers reminiscing about the times of neon, shoulder pads and side ponytails when he hosts on Feb. 27. Vanilla Ice’s mega-smash hit “Ice Ice Baby” was an instant hit when it debuted in 1990, propelling Vanilla Ice to mainstream success, and was the first hip-hop single to top the Billboard charts. Since launching his career in the early ‘90s, Vanilla Ice has won numerous awards including “Favorite Pop/Rock New Artist” and “Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist” by the American Music Awards. He’s also been featured in several movies and hosted his own documentary “The Vanilla Ice Project.”
