Nevada Mining Association to Host Nevada Teacher Education Workshop for Northern Nevada’s Teachers, June 21-22

WHAT: The Nevada Mining Association (NVMA), in partnership with the Nevada Division of Minerals, will host the 38th annual Nevada Teacher Education Workshop on Wednesday, June 21 and Thursday, June 22.

 

The goal of the workshop is to educate K-12 Nevada teachers about Earth sciences, the importance of mined materials and the role that mining plays in our lives. Classroom materials and lessons will be provided to all who attend. All lessons are Nevada standard-based and fit the latest STEM standards.

 

Teachers will attend classroom and general sessions on day one, followed by group presentations, prize drawings and geologic and mining tours on day two.

 

Teachers in attendance can earn continuing education credit, classroom materials and lessons. Each attendee that lives more than 50 miles from Winnemucca will receive a $200 travel expense reimbursement.
