Beyond Jobs: Walmart & Goodwill
National Partnership to Connect Women to a Better Future

More than three in five American families now rely on women to be the sole or co-breadwinner.

Helping women succeed in the workplace is critical to the success of our national and local economy.

Goodwill of Southern Nevada is proud to be one of 45 Goodwills across the nation chosen to share a portion of a $7.7 million dollar grant awarded to parent organization Goodwill Industries International (GII) by the Walmart Foundation. The grant funds a national program called “Beyond Jobs” that is specifically designed to enhance employment and career advancement opportunities for women.

Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s portion of the grant will be determined on how many local women are helped by the program which will provide participants with a complete career assessment, individualized career planning, connections to employment opportunities, training programs, financial education and other support services. The goal is to assist low-income unemployed and underemployed women who want to advance their careers.

In 2012, Goodwill of Southern Nevada helped secure employment for more than 1,800 people, of which 941 – more than half – were women with various employers throughout the valley.
