Additional Show Dates Also Being Added to Meet Increased Demand for More Robot-Combat Action
“BATTLEBOTS: DESTRUCT-A-THON,” the live robot-combat experience inspired by the popular TV series, announces two highly anticipated Proving Ground matches featuring an autonomous bot created by Hacksmith Industries against challenger Disarray from the University of Arizona. To take place on Saturday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 10 at 2:30 p.m., the bots will compete for the chance to earn a potential spot in the BattleBots World Championship TV show.
Last year, Hacksmith Industries debuted Orbitron – a groundbreaking autonomous BattleBot utilizing a combination of AI, custom software and a sophisticated array of attack and defense sensors. This March, Orbitron V2 will make an appearance competing against the heavyweight Disarray bot built by university team Wildcat Robotics.
“We’re super excited to bring more autonomy to BattleBots. This new revision of Orbitron attempts to fix many of the maneuverability issues we faced with our last version, so we’re hoping the software has a greater advantage against Disarray,” said Steven Szczeszynski, team captain, Hacksmith.
Adding to the “DESTRUCT-A-THON” excitement, BattleBots is expanding its number of weekly shows to meet the increased demand for more robot-combat action. Fans can look forward to select weeks featuring up to 10 shows. For more information, to view the expanded schedule or to purchase tickets to “BATTLEBOTS: DESTRUCT-A-THON,” click here.
