Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play Presented by MGM Rewards Set to Return to Shadow Creek in Las Vegas May 25-29, 2022
Inaugural Champion, Current CME Globe Points Leader and Women’s British Open Champion set to return to Shadow Creek in Las Vegas as early committed players
The Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play Presented by MGM Rewards will return to Shadow Creek in Las Vegas for its second consecutive year May 25-29, 2022 with 64 players competing head-to-head for a $1.5 million purse. Early commitments announced today include the 2021 champion Ally Ewing as well as current CME Globe points leader Danielle Kang and 2021 Women’s British Open champion Anna Nordqvist. Shadow Creek is the exclusive golf course owned by MGM Resorts and available only to guests of the company’s resorts.
The Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play is the only match-play event on the LPGA calendar. Ewing went 6-1-0 in last year’s event, beating Jenny Coleman, Kang and Ariya Jutanugarn on the way to the final where she topped Sophia Popov to clinch her second career LPGA title. Kang is no stranger to winning match play tournaments, collecting U.S. Women’s Amateur titles in both 2010 and 2011. Kang has four Top-10 finishes already this season, winning the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in January for her sixth LPGA Tour victory and she currently leads both the Rolex Player of the Year rankings and the US Solheim Cup Points. Nordqvist is the most recent major winner on the LPGA Tour, taking home the 2021 Women’s British Open title last August. That crown was her third major championship and her ninth LPGA Tour victory overall.
The field will be divided into 16 groups of four players, with three days of round-robin matches deciding the final 16-player bracket. From there, the tournament will proceed in single elimination matches to determine the two players who will face off in Sunday’s Championship Match. The final field will not be set until Tuesday, May 17 with seeding of the participants announced shortly after. Additional field announcements will be made by the tournament in the coming weeks.
