Bailey Gumm and Heather Renner crowned Miss Nevada and Miss Nevada’s Outstanding Teen 2016
Bailey Gumm was crowned the 2016 Miss Nevada and Heather Renner the 2016 Miss Nevada’s Outstanding Teen on May 6 at the Tropicana Las Vegas.
The Miss Nevada Scholarship Organization crowned two state representatives last week and provided $95,000 in scholarships to 28 of the most dynamic young women ranging from 13-23 years of age in Nevada. The prestigious Eileen Hale Empowerment Award in memory of the Miss Nevada Organization‘s CEO and President Jodi Fonfa’s mother was awarded to Briana Neben.
As Miss Nevada, Gumm has the opportunity to choose between a $10,000 scholarship to the school of her choice, or a four-year full-ride scholarship to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, or a four-year full-ride scholarship to Nevada State College.
“It is wonderful to see the support of the organization and pageant on a local and state level.” said Jodi Hale Fonfa, chief executive officer and chairman. “As long as the organization continues to reach young women across Nevada and help provide direction for their future our work will continue.”
With Gumm’s acceptance of the highly prized title of Miss Nevada, she will start her year of service as Nevada’s goodwill ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and will continue her platform work in the autism community.
Gumm will represent the Miss Nevada Scholarship Organization during the televised Miss America pageant in Atlantic City, N.J. on September 11. Renner will join Gumm during their year of service, but will compete separately at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen pageant in Orlando, Fla. this August.
