Collaboration Center Foundation to Hold First-Ever Poker Run on April 30
Autism now affects a staggering one in 44 children and youth and is on the rise of being diagnosed as a co-occurring condition with other disabilities. Bringing Autism Acceptance and Awareness Month to a close, the Collaboration Center Foundation is revving up their engines to present the first-ever poker run, Ante Up for Disabilities. This traditional motorcycle poker run will be held on Saturday, April 30 beginning at 8 a.m. Additional information and registration is available online at www.collablv.org.
Get on those two or three wheels and ride to benefit the Collaboration Center Foundation Disability Network and the organization’s campus expansion. The funds raised throughout this fun day of riding will go directly toward the transformation of the property into an innovative and world-renowned treatment, therapy, recreation and empowerment center for all those Intellectual, Developmental, and Physical disabilities of ALL ages. Beginning and ending at Red Rock Harley Davidson (2260 S. Rainbow Blvd), registration is from 8-10 a.m. with the poker run beginning at 10 a.m. Through a set list of stops including Mountain Spring Ranch, Terrible’s Pahrump and Terrible’s Indian Springs, riders and passengers will receive a total of five playing cards to make the best hand. Top winners will receive a variety of prizes and there will be a prize for worst hand as well. When the run concludes, the Red Rock Harley Davidson showroom will transform into a family-friendly event with food, drinks, prizes, 50/50 raffle and more.
Riders can start their fundraising team in advance at ccfpokerrun.givesmart.com, in addition to registering day of the event. Individual riders are $25 per person, team captains are $20, additional team riders are $15 and all passengers are $15. Sponsorships are also available.
Individuals and families living with autism and other intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities have fallen even further behind during the pandemic and are in dire need of a safe and welcoming place to receive all treatments and supportive care services to reach their full potential. The Collaboration Center campus is a total destination for community inclusion, focused upon family and peer engagement, social interaction, recreation, therapy and education to enhance the lives of those touched by Intellectual, Developmental and Physical Disabilities (ID/DD/PD) of ALL ages. The organization recently broke ground on Phase One of their renovation of the center which will include more than 23,000-square-feet of treatment and therapy space for community partners to operate, which will include a developmental pre-school, treatment facilities, educational classrooms, a medical and mental health clinic, an autism assessment clinic, an adaptive exercise gym, a new grab and go café, full garden, tortoise habitat, outdoor amphitheater for community gatherings and much more. Events like Ante Up for Disabilities are critical in making sure the organization raises enough funds to get closer to completing the campus buildout, helping eliminate treatment waitlists, house a medical clinic and more.
