Andre Agassi Foundation for Education Donates $250,000 to Las Vegas Non-Profit CORE, Powered by The Rogers Foundation
Funds will Expand Program and Create the Andre Agassi Foundation Cohort of New Scholars
With an ongoing mission to provide educational opportunities and resources to underserved populations, the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education is donating $250,000 to Las Vegas based non-profit CORE. Motivated by Agassi’s deep personal admiration for Beverly Rogers and her commitment to equitable education for all kids, the funds will be used to expand CORE’s program to include a new cohort of Scholars that will be named the Andre Agassi Foundation cohort.
“Beverly’s commitment and vision for CORE is impressive. She continues to believe in all kids and uses her passion to drive results,” said Agassi, Chairman and Founder of the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education “Beverly believed in me when we started our adventure in the education space and it’s an honor to be able to support her in her ongoing commitment to education. We both believe, ‘With education there is HOPE.'”
The program model for what CORE is today, initially began and has since evolved from the “I Have a Dream” ® Foundation – National, a network of 200 out-of-school programs focused on bringing educational resources to underserved communities. The Agassi Foundation was one of the original funders of the Las Vegas branch of “I Have a Dream” ® Foundation – National when it came to our community in 1996.
“The admiration is mutual,” said Beverly Rogers, Chairman of the Board, The Rogers Foundation. “Andre’s commitment to improving educational opportunities, particularly here in southern Nevada is deeply impactful. We have a shared vision for focusing our philanthropic endeavors to maximize long-term impact and change lives.”
The Rogers Foundation powers CORE by covering administrative costs. The nonprofit raises additional funds to provide compelling programming for the Scholars and families it serves.
CORE’s mission centers around the belief that the most powerful way to ensure economic mobility and equity is to invest in children and their families over a long-term period and with a holistic approach. CORE is a long-term, out-of-school program that provides both Scholars and their families with an infrastructure for year-after-year success. The holistic approach has been designed to incorporate comprehensive wrap-around support, social work case-management, and social emotional development into a program that allows whole students to walk into their classroom every day, ready to achieve their best.
“We are in this together and look forward to a long-continued partnership because there is an endless amount of work to be done. We believe in Las Vegas and know we can be better,” said Agassi.
More information about the new Andre Agassi Foundation cohort will be announced soon. For more information about CORE, follow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, or visit www.corewecan.org.
