LIGHTS FC AND UNLV DOUBLEHEADER AT CASHMAN FIELD SET FOR SATURDAY
The Lights will take on Colorado Springs at 2 p.m. followed by UNLV and Arizona at 4:30 p.m.
The UNLV women’s soccer team will wrap up its spring competition slate Saturday, playing in a special doubleheader at Cashman Field with the Las Vegas Lights FC. The Rebels and Lights have partnered to attempt to make history in setting the women’s soccer attendance record for the state of Nevada.
The Lights FC will start the afternoon taking on the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at 2:00 p.m.. Immediately following the match, UNLV will face Arizona in the day’s featured match at 4:30 p.m. Admission provides fans access to both matches.
The Rebels have seven players that are Las Vegas locals, while head coach Jenny Ruiz-Williams is the first former UNLV player to return to lead the program. Ruiz-Williams, who also represented Mexico in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, is entering her third season at the helm.
“This is an amazing opportunity for our players to participate in a match like this one. It’s incredible the support that is being put into allowing these young women the platform to play in front of this city.” said Ruiz-Williams. “Arizona is a top quality opponent who competes in a strong Pac-12 Conference. I think fans will be entertained, young girls will be inspired, and the growth of women’s soccer will be showcased at Cashman field. We are so grateful to Lights FC, and their partnership, and look forward to many more opportunities to play at that electric venue.”
