Miracle Mile Shops Hosts Job Shadow With Students From Communities In Schools Of Nevada

MIRACLE MILE SHOPS HOSTS JOB SHADOW WITH STUDENTS FROM COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS OF NEVADA

On Thursday, May 17, Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino welcomed a group of high school students from Communities In Schools of Nevada’s Fellows Academy for a three-hour job shadow event. At 3 p.m., students were paired with members of Miracle Mile Shops’ management team and merchant executives to observe daily activities and learn about the business of running a major shopping center. The afternoon ended with a complimentary dinner at D’Amore’s Famous Pizza.

The job shadow supported Communities In Schools of Nevada’s mission of empowering students to stay in school so they can achieve in life. The Fellows Academy is an elective credit course targeted to freshman at Canyon Springs High School and sophomores at Rancho High School. Each student works with a CISN site coordinator to help address any barriers to their success as well as attend classes with curriculum focused on character education, goal setting, team building, self-assessment, and college and career exploration.

The partnership between Miracle Mile Shops and Communities In Schools of Nevada is part of the center’s Caring, Giving, Changing campaign, celebrating a year of change in 2012. In addition to monthly fountain fundraisers, the Caring, Giving, Changing campaign raises funds for programs and organizations through community sponsorships, additional partnerships and a number of cash and in-kind donations.
