TWENTY YEARS OF THE FORUM SHOPS AT CAESARS
CHRONICLED IN EXCLUSIVE PHOTO EXHIBIT PRESENTED
BY THE LAS VEGAS NEWS BUREAU
Historic Pairing to Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of The Forum Shops at Caesars
and the 65th Anniversary of the Las Vegas New Bureau
When two of Las Vegas’ premier institutions celebrate a milestone anniversary in the same year, it makes sense to commemorate together. In honor of their 20th and 65th anniversaries respectfully, The Forum Shops at Caesars and the Las Vegas New Bureau have combined efforts to create a distinctive and amazing historical photographic exhibit. The one-of-a-kind exhibition chronicles the development of The Forum Shops, the premiere retail center in the world, and showcases countless memorable moments in Las Vegas history captured by the Las Vegas News Bureau’s cameras. The exhibits will be located in three areas of the center, each focusing on a particular phase of The Forum Shops development. The exhibition offers the public a rare peek into the New Bureau’s vaults, and a tour through the ages of The Forum Shops.
Perfectly situated in the heart of Las Vegas, right on the center of the famed Strip (on a lot that was once the home of a racetrack), the concept for The Forum Shops broke all standard rules for shopping center success – and Las Vegas. With breathtaking Roman architecture, painted ceilings, impressive dining, and retail like none other in Las Vegas–The Forum Shops was an immediate and overwhelming success. Now, after two expansions bringing the square footage to nearly 700,000, The Forum Shops is recognized around the globe for its unique combination of top retail, dining, entertainment, excellent location and exciting ambiance featuring over 145 specialty shops and 15 restaurants.
“Providing a unique setting for creating special memories has always been key to the ongoing recognition of The Forum Shops,” notes Maureen Crampton, director of marketing for Forum Shops. “As part of our anniversary celebration, we thought it would be amazing to showcase the many different eras and changes that have taken place, and we could only do that with the help of the Las Vegas New Bureau. They are an amazing partner and have done a fantastic job chronicling not only The Forum Shops, but all of Las Vegas.”
The Las Vegas New Bureau was originally created as part of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce’s marketing plan to promote Las Vegas as a tourism destination. The staff started taking pictures of tourists dining and enjoying the pools, then sending them to their hometown newspapers for publication. As their reputation grew, the News Bureau photographers were soon snapping shots of the top entertainers of the time and sharing them with news organizations around the globe.
“We are excited to partner with the Forum Shops for this exhibition and to recognize the history and growth of one of the original Strip shopping experiences,” said Lisa Jacob, senior manager of the Las Vegas News Bureau. “The Las Vegas News Bureau has played a crucial role in promoting Las Vegas tourism, and having great partners like The Forum Shops will help us continue to fulfill that mission.”
The exhibits are currently on display are located in each of the center’s three phases: Phase l exhibit is near the Fountain of the Gods; Phase II exhibit is located near the Atlantis show and Aquarium and the Phase III exhibit is located on the second level near the windows across from the famed spiral escalator.
