In celebration of Armed Forces Day, The Palazzo Las Vegas and Southwest Airlines have joined with the Armed Forces Foundation and Omaha Steaks®to salute our nation’s wounded veterans with a weekend of world-class entertainment, dining and relaxation in Las Vegas from May 16 to 19.

“The sacrifices our service members and their families make for our country cannot be overstated,” said Patricia Driscoll, president and executive director of the Armed Forces Foundation.  “They rise to the occasion each and every day, so when corporations like The Palazzo Las Vegas, Southwest Airlines and Omaha Steaks unite to recognize that sacrifice by rolling out the red carpet to treat these service members to a VIP weekend in Las Vegas, that is truly special.”

Southwest Airlines will fly the wounded warriors from military hospitals in San Antonio, Texas to Las Vegas where they will be met with a police motorcade to escort them to The Palazzo. A cheering crowd of guests and Palazzo team members will greet the troops at grand welcome reception in the resort’s Waterfall & Atrium Gardens, where the resort is decked out in patriotic décor schemes in celebration of their arrival.

“We are excited to be part of this weekend that gives back to those that have given so much for our freedom and our country,” said Linda Rutherford, Southwest Airlines vice president of communication and strategic outreach. “We’re proud of our relationship with the Armed Forces Foundation, which supports our commitment to military service members and their families.”

During their stay, the troops will enjoy the best-of-the-best of what Las Vegas has to offer including The Palazzo’s all-suite accommodations; poker and blackjack tournaments; grand tasting buffets; dinner at Las Vegas’ premier sports book, Lagasse’s Stadium; spa and salon appointments at Canyon Ranch SpaClub®, tours of the Las Vegas Strip, tickets to Blue Man Group and Madame Tussauds at The Venetian and an evening at TAO Nightclub. In addition, Omaha Steaks will host an all-star cookout for the service members and their families and will present them with deluxe Omaha Steaks gourmet gift packages to enjoy at home with family and friends.

“This festive weekend is our small way of expressing gratitude to the men and women in the Armed Forces,” said Andy Abboud, senior vice president of government relations for Las Vegas Sands Corp. “We recognize that they’ve sacrificed immensely for the rest of us, and we want to thank them as best we can. Honoring our veterans is a fundamental value of our chairman Sheldon Adelson and our entire company.”

“As a family-owned company with a history spanning nearly 100 years, we are humbled and grateful for the efforts of our military troops and their families, who have generously sacrificed and bravely served to protect this great nation we proudly call ‘home’,” said Omaha Steaks President Bruce Simon. “We are honored to be involved in this year’s ‘Salute Our Troops’ event with The Palazzo Las Vegas and Southwest Airlines, to recognize these brave soldiers and their families with thanks and gratitude, and to support the outstanding efforts of the Armed Forces Foundation.”
