Second-place UNLV has won six straight at home, Aztecs are nation’s only unbeaten team

Winner of six straight home games and seven of its last nine overall, the UNLV men’s basketball team will host No. 4 San Diego State at the Thomas & Mack Center on Sunday, January 26 at 1 p.m.

The Aztecs are the nation’s lone unbeaten team at 20-0 and sit in first place in the Mountain West at 9-0. The Runnin’ Rebels are in second in the conference at 6-2.

Tickets start at just $22 for Sunday’s game when purchased at least a day in advance at UNLVtickets.com, by calling 702-739-FANS or by visiting the Thomas & Mack Center Box Office. Runnin’ Rebel Fest, located near the Coach Tarkanian statue, will open at 11 a.m. Admission to the area is free and features food, drinks, entertainment, tailgate games, inflatables, and more. Fans will be able to text to win one of 500 Hey Reb bobbleheads between the beginning of Runnin’ Rebel Fest and halftime of the game. The code will be announced at Runnin’ Rebel Fest. The bobblehead shows Hey Reb in his red suit and sneakers to help raise awareness for Coaches vs. Cancer.

Junior guard Amauri Hardy leads four UNLV (11-10, 6-2) players averaging in double-figure scoring this season with 15.1 points per game (eighth in MW), while junior forward Mbacke Diong is the team’s leading rebounder with 9.0 per contest (5th in MW). UNLV is under new leadership this year in head coach T.J. Otzelberger.

SDSU (20-0, 9-0) is in its third season under its head coach, Brian Dutcher. The Aztecs are led by Malachi Flynn’s 16.6 ppg (7th in MW) and Yanni Wetzell’s 6.4 rpg (9th in MW). Flynn also leads the team and league in assists (5.1 apg).

Sunday’s game will be televised nationally by CBS Sports Network with Carter Blackburn, Pete Gillen and John Schriffen (sideline reporter) calling the action. Jon Sandler, former Runnin’ Rebel Curtis Terry and Steve Cofield (sideline reporter) will handle the UNLV radio call, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 in Las Vegas and online via the UNLVGameday App and TuneIn.
