TRF Community Impact: Zappos and Zappos For Good
Zappos, the online retailer known for exceptional customer service and its official charitable arm, Zappos for Good, live their mission to spread happiness and celebrate the good in everything while encouraging their employees to be the good they want to see in the world. With a strong company culture focused on giving back and being socially responsible, Zappos and Zappos for Good can be found making an impact in just about every space imaginable. While longtime gala supporters, Zappos and Zappos for Good have increased collaborations with TRF within the past year and continue to surprise and delight TRF families nationwide.
Team TRF Honoree: Corner Canyon High School
Students at Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah rallied together to raise $77,526.08 for TRF during their fundraising season in December 2018, exceeding their goal to raise $75,000 in just three weeks. As part of the Team TRF school fundraising program, students completed “odd jobs” in the community including door-to-door asks, silent auctions, sporting events, student activities and restaurants nights to support the fundraising effort.
TRF Honorary Chair: Shaquille O’Neal
Shaquille O’Neal is so much more than a list of outstanding stats from 19 seasons in the NBA. The basketball Hall of Famer frequently donates his time and money to countless charitable causes throughout the global community. With new ties to Las Vegas, Shaq has invited more than a dozen TRF families to various benefit events this year and continues to quietly make an impact in Las Vegas and around the world.
TRF Legacy Honoree: Tim and Amy Cantor
Tim Cantor’s extraordinary artistic vision has been apparent since he began oil painting at just five years old. By age 15, he was given his first art exhibition, whereupon one of his paintings was acquired to hang in the White House. After marrying Amy, the love of his life and his partner in all things, Tim’s reputation continued to expand across the world. In 2015, Tim and Amy began working closely with Imagine Dragons to create the cover of the band’s second album, Smoke + Mirrors, as well as 13 paintings representing each song on the album. The partnership only deepened as the art was integrated into the band’s music video for “Shots,” featured in the tour production, and became a touring art exhibition accompanying Imagine Dragons at more than 60 stops in North America and Asia. With exquisite galleries in San Diego and Amsterdam, Tim and Amy are far more accomplished than their humble and gracious personalities would ever let on. They have given quietly and generously for years to TRF, lending their talents and time to create art for events, awards for honorees, and auctioning off paintings. They are an integral part of the TRF family.
The Rise Up Gala offers attendees an exclusive night of entertainment and glamour while celebrating the individuals who have made notable contributions to TRF through direct efforts, philanthropic support, or by raising public awareness for pediatric cancer. Joel McHale will once again serve as master of ceremonies. The evening also features a special acoustic performance from the GRAMMY Award-winning, multiplatinum-selling band, Imagine Dragons. All proceeds benefit TRF, where 85 percent of every dollar raised goes directly to families in need. For more information, visit TRF.org.
About The Tyler Robinson Foundation
The Tyler Robinson Foundation (TRF) helps strengthen families financially and emotionally as they cope with the tragedy of a pediatric cancer diagnosis by providing grants specifically to offset out-of-pocket life expenses. TRF is the nonprofit organization of the Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum selling band Imagine Dragons. TRF meets a critical need in communities across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe and Malaysia. Each year, one in 285 children are diagnosed with cancer. While many pediatric cancer organizations focus on growing awareness and support for families with the physical and emotional toll of a diagnosis, the huge financial hardship cancer treatment places on families is rarely discussed. More than 85-percent of every dollar TRF raises goes right to families in need. For more information visit TRF.org.
About Imagine Dragons
Formed in 2009, Imagine Dragons first revealed their limitless passion and genre-bending sensibilities with a series of independently released EPs that quickly earned a grassroots following. In addition, Night Visions’ diamond-selling single “Radioactive” hit No. 1 on the BillboardRock chart and won Best Rock Performance at the 2014 Grammy Awards. From there, Imagine Dragons went on to see their 2015 sophomore album Smoke + Mirrors debut at No. 1 on the Billboard200. Released in June 2017, their third album EVOLVE was nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album and spawned three No. 1 Alternative radio hits: “Believer,” which topped the Alternative radio chart for 12 weeks and also climbed to No. 3 at Top 40 radio; “Thunder,” which hit No. 1 at Top 40 and scored a Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Grammy nomination; and “Whatever It Takes,” which was Top 5 at Top 40 radio.
