RUNNIN’ REBEL SERIES WITH SMU ANNOUNCED
UNLV men’s basketball will host the Mustangs this season and travel to Dallas during the 2020-21 campaign
The UNLV men’s basketball team will play SMU out of the American Athletic Conference in a home-and-home series beginning this season, the Athletics Department announced Thursday.
The Runnin’ Rebels, under first-year head coach T.J. Otzelberger, will host the Mustangs at the Thomas & Mack Center on Saturday, November 23, 2019, while the return game of the two-year series is scheduled for SMU’s Moody Coliseum in Dallas on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.
“We are excited to add this series with SMU to our schedule for the next two years,” said Marcus Bowman, UNLV Senior Associate Athletics Director. “Playing a quality opponent from a highly rated conference aligns with our scheduling philosophy of creating an attractive schedule for our fans while positioning our team for postseason selection.”
Runnin’ Rebel season tickets are on sale now and start as low as $119. To purchase, visit UNLVtickets.com, call 702-739-FANS (3267) or visit the Thomas & Mack Center Box Office.
UNLV is 3-3 all-time vs. SMU in men’s basketball. The last meeting took place in 2009 at the Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii. The Runnin’ Rebels won that game, 67-53. UNLV is 2-2 vs. SMU at the Thomas & Mack Center and 0-1 against the Mustangs at Moody Coliseum.
A two-year series with Cal was announced last week. Additional 2019-20 UNLV men’s basketball schedule details will be announced in the near future.
