Three Square Food Bank’s Record-Breaking ‘Fill the Plate’ Campaign Provides More Than 228,000 Meals to the Community
Today, Three Square Food Bank announced the results of its third annual community-wide food and fund drive, Fill the Plate, held Sept. 4-28. Community members and local businesses donated approximately 35,000 pounds of shelf-stable food and raised more than $66,500, which provides over 228,000 meals to the one in eight Southern Nevadan’s struggling with hunger.

Three Square’s Fill the Plate campaign serves as a community-wide initiative to combat hunger in Southern Nevada. At the Sept. 4 kick-off, with the help of generous sponsors, individuals, businesses, local police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, military personnel, professional sports teams, local celebrities and influencers, the community was encouraged to fill a ‘30 by ‘30 “plate” in Three Square’s south warehouse with shelf-stable food and/or make monetary donations.

“The Las Vegas community continues to work with us to make ‘Fill the Plate’ more successful each year,” said Brian Burton, President and CEO of Three Square Food Bank. “This year, generous Southern Nevadans were able to provide more than 228,000 meals to our neighbors struggling with hunger. We raised 73,000 more meals than last year, and that shows the valley’s true colors of kindness and generosity.”

Generous sponsors of the Fill the Plate campaign included: Cosmopolitan, SEC Federal Credit Union, Findlay Kia and InTouch Credit Union, Lotus Broadcasting and KOMP 92.3 FM, Orangetheory Fitness and others.
