UNLV MEN’S SOCCER PLAYS HOME OPENER FRIDAY AGAINST WOFFORD
All fans encouraged to wear Red to Friday’s Code Red contest
UNLV men’s soccer looks to bounce back from a disappointing overtime setback in its last contest as the Rebels finally will play in front of a friendly crowd when they host Wofford in the 2018 home opener Friday night at 7 pm to kick off Alumni Weekend. It’s also the first game of the Johann Memorial Classic, which will conclude on Sunday with the Rebels facing Cal State Fullerton at 7 pm, following the earlier matchup of Wofford and Cal Baptist.
The game against Wofford has been designated a Code Red game by the UNLV Athletic Department, and all fans are encouraged to wear red to the game, while the first 300 fans will receive a free UNLV red T-shirt. Friday’s activities will begin at 5 pm with the annual Alumni Game, while the Rebel Mafia Tailgate Party is back for another year as well. Gates open for the tailgate at 5 pm, with free food, free drinks, and live music until 6:45 pm, and admission is open to all ticketed fans. Sunday will have another tailgate party, again starting at 5 pm, and Raising Cane’s will be providing the food, as the first 250 fans will receive a free 3-Finger Combo.
Tickets are just $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5 for any ticket bought online at UNLVTickets.com up to three hours before the game. New at UNLV this year, all kids are free to UNLV events if they are 12 and under, or 17 and under with a Nevada School ID.
The Rebels started the year with an impressive three straight wins by an 8-1 goal margin, which included a 1-0 upset road victory at then No. 15/23 Tulsa. That marked the third win over a ranked team for the Rebels in the past two seasons.
Both games of the Classic for the Rebels will be live streamed, carried by the WAC Digital Network and available on UNLVRebels.com as well as through the Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV and Android streaming devices.
