WHAT: Luxury retail and dining destination Crystals at CityCenter honors Nevada Ballet Theatre (NBT) with a limited-time exhibit of beautiful costumes from its upcoming presentation of George Balanchine’s Jewels, set to premiere in October 2012. A unique three-act ballet based on Emeralds, Rubies and Diamonds, Jewels will mark NBT’s inaugural 2012-2013 Season in its new performance home, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.
Named after special four-foot by eight-foot flooring pieces that allow dancers to execute their movements on a surface that keeps them from being injured, NBT created a series of dances that showcase many styles of choreography. This series of dances, or ‘4×8’, range from the most classical to the very contemporary, reflecting NBT’s versatile repertoire as performed by a dynamic group of professional dancers.
WHO: Under the artistic direction of James Canfield, Nevada Ballet Theatre is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and the largest professional ballet company and dance academy in the state.
