UNLV HOSTS AIR FORCE SATURDAY AT 3 PM
Game against Falcons at Thomas & Mack Center will be televised by Root Sports
The UNLV men’s basketball team (9-10, 2-4 MW) will play its second straight game at home on Saturday, Jan. 21, as it hosts Air Force (9-10, 2-4 MW) at 3 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Runnin’ Rebels lost Tuesday to San Diego State, 64-51.
Saturday will be the annual Friends & Family Game with special discounted tickets starting as low as $7. It will also be Family Fun Pack Night with four tickets, hot dogs, and drinks for only $56 (save $40). Only available online before gameday. In addition, the first 3,000 fans will receive sunglasses courtesy of SNWA, and Rebel Kids Club Day is also being held.
UNLV, which is 7-5 at home this year, is led in scoring by sophomore guard Jalen Poyser (13.2 ppg), senior forward Tyrell Green (11.5 ppg), senior forward Christian Jones (10.5 ppg), junior guard Jovan Mooring (9.6 ppg) and sophomore guard Kris Clyburn (7.9 ppg). Jones (6.2 rpg), Clyburn (6.1 rpg) and Green (5.6 rpg) are the team’s leading rebounders, while Mooring (3.6 apg) and Poyser (3.2 apg) lead in assists. Mooring is third in the Mountain West in assists and second in conference-only games (4.8 apg). Junior forward Dwayne Morgan was leading the team in rebounding (7.3 rpg), but has missed the last 10 games because of injury. It was announced Thursday that he will miss the rest of the season.
Air Force has lost two straight and three of its last four games. The Falcons are coming off an 83-76 loss at Nevada, Reno on Wednesday. AFA is 0-5 in true road games this season. They are led in scoring by senior forward Hayden Graham (12.4 ppg), junior guard Jacob Van (12.2 ppg), junior center Frank Toohey (11.4 ppg) and senior guard Zach Kocur (10.3 ppg). Graham also leads in rebounding (5.2 rpg), while junior guard Trevor Lyons (2.8 apg) and Van (2.7 apg) lead in assists.
Saturday’s game will be televised by Root Sports and also available online at the Mountain West Network (some areas) with Drew Goodman and Joe Cravens calling the action.
