UNLV’S DANNY MUSOVSKI NAMED TOP DRAWER SOCCER NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior forward earns the second national player of the week honor in his career
After an outstanding performance in the WAC Tournament in which he led the fourth-seed UNLV to the championship and an automatic NCAA berth, junior forward Danny Musovski has been named the Top Drawer Soccer National Player of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday. Musovski, who was also on the National Team of the Week, picks up the second national player of the week honor of his career, as he also was recognized as such by the NSCAA in 2014. He was also named to the College Soccer News Team of The Week on Monday as well.
Musovski, a native of Henderson (Liberty HS), was named the WAC Tournament MVP after scoring both of UNLV’s goals in the championship victory over Air Force on Sunday, including the game-winner late in the second half just 63 seconds after the Falcons had tied the score. He also provided the assist on the lone goal of the game in UNLV’s 1-0 upset of top-seed and 23rd-ranked Utah Valley in the semifinals on Nov. 11, and assisted on UNLV’s second goal in the 3-2 win over UTRGV in the WAC First Round on Nov. 10. The WAC Tourney MVP honor is the second of his career as well, after first receiving it in 2014 while leading UNLV to the title.
Despite missing five games earlier this year with a leg injury, Musovski ranks among the nation’s offensive leaders, and currently is eighth in the nation in points per game (1.67) and tied for ninth in goals per game (0.67).
Musovski and the Rebels open play in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7 pm at San Diego State. The winner of that contest will advance to the next round to take on Denver on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 4 pm (PT).
