The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the 2015 National League Champion New York Mets, will open a nine-game (eight-day) homestand on Saturday, July 30 against first-place El Paso Chihuahuas, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, at Cashman Field. All four-games in the series vs. El Paso (July 30 – Tuesday, August 2) will begin at 7:05 p.m.  Las Vegas will then host the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, in a five-game (four-day) series from Wednesday-Saturday, August 3-6. All games will begin at 7:05 p.m. except for the Thursday, August 4 double-header at 5:05 p.m. (seven-inning games). Las Vegas will play a stretch of 17 out of 21 games at Cashman Field from July 30 – August 19.

The 51s, under fourth-year manager Wally Backman, are currently on a brief five-game (four-day) Northern California road trip that concludes on Friday evening against Fresno.

 

Las Vegas, 52-51 record (.505), is in second place in the Pacific Conference Southern Division. First-place El Paso (59-45, .567) leads Las Vegas by 6 ½ games.

The 51s organization have the proud distinction of being the longest enduring franchise in the history of professional sports in the state of Nevada.

2016 ATTENDANCE: In 48 dates, Las Vegas’ total is 235,688 for an average of 4,910.  The season-high “home crowd” was an overflow sellout of 11,726 vs. Tacoma on April 28 for Fireworks/Star Wars Night. Las Vegas recorded its second sellout of the season vs. El Paso on May 13 with an overflow crowd of 11,449 on Fireworks/Hometown Heroes Night and then the third sellout was on the 4th of July vs. Salt Lake (10,143).  The Las Vegas franchise has reached the 300,000 plateau in “home” attendance in all 33 seasons (1983-2015). The all-time attendance total now stands at 11,213,417. The Las Vegas franchise welcomed the 11-millionth fan (Brian Johnson) during the opening homestand on April 14 vs. Sacramento.

            Steven Matz Jersey Night, presented by Cox, will be featured in the opener of the nine-game homestand on Saturday, July 30 against El Paso. The first 2,500 fans through the gates (open at 6 p.m.) will receive a Matz Jersey, who was a member of the 51s in 2015.  The left-handed pitcher is currently in his second season with the Mets.

            “Smith’s Value Menu Monday” will be featured in game three of the four-game series on August 1.  Monday “home” games will feature a “Value Menu” for the eighth straight season!  The 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item.

            Budweiser Dollar Beer Night will be presented in the double-header (5:05 p.m.) against the Grizzlies on Thursday, August 4.  Dollar Beer Night will be featured at every Thursday home game during the 2016 season.  Proper identification and wristbands are required for dollar beer night.

            The 8 News Now Viva Las Vegas Fireworks (post-game show),” presented by The Orleans & Gold Coast will be featured in game four of the five-game series against Fresno on Friday, August 5.

The “Amazin’ August” promotional schedule will feature “Fireworks Shows” on four straight Friday night games on August 5,12,19, 26!

The finale of the homestand on Saturday, August 6 will feature 51s Pint Glass Night, to the first 2,500 fans through the gates, (open at 6 p.m.) on Super Hero Night!

El Paso’s roster features two of the top 10 prospects in the Padres organization, according to Baseball America: Top prospect: outfielder Manuel Margot (No. 2) and outfielder Hunter Renfroe (No. 3).  Renfroe ranks fifth in the PCL in batting (.324), leads the PCL in home runs (25) and 2nd in RBI (87).

Fresno’s roster features three of the top 10 prospects in the Astros organization, according to Baseball America: Top prospect, first baseman A.J. Reed; right-handed pitcher Joe Musgrove (No. 6) and third baseman Colin Moran (No. 8).

The 51s will broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on NBC Sports Radio AM 920 ‘THE GAME’, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at www.LV51.comRuss Langer, the 10-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 17th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball. He also called the action for the 2016 Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network (July 13).

 

All 51s games (home & away) will also be broadcast on MiLB.TV via LV51.com.

Following the homestand, the 51s will embark on a brief four-game road trip to Albuquerque, N.M., against the Isotopes, Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, from Sunday-Wednesday, August 7-10.  The next scheduled off day for the PCL is Thursday, August 11.

Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the America First Credit Union Box Office at Cashman Field. The box office is open Monday-Friday (non-game days) from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com). Ticketmaster outlets are located at selected Smith’s Food & Drug.

The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $11.00 (reserved, $12.00-Day of Game); $14.00 (plaza, $15.00-Day of Game) and $16.00 (field, $17.00-Day of Game) & the blue dugout seats at $30.00.  The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza, field and reserved seats throughout the season except for the “Fireworks Extravaganza” which was held on Monday, July 4.
