TOAD THE WET SPROCKET
and RUSTED ROOT
MONDAY, JULY 11 AT 9 P.M.
Tickets on Sale Saturday, April 2 at 10 a.m. PST
Legends of alternative rock Toad the Wet Sprocket and the percussion-driven Rusted Root will co-headline a night of nostalgia and new tunes at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas at The Linq on Monday, July 11 at 9 p.m.
Would Toad the Wet Sprocket, by any other name, still be as sweet? The group was named after a fictional band Monty Python’s Eric Idle created for the program “Rutland Weekend Television” in 1975. Toad, who packed Brooklyn Bowl in November of 2014 and July 2012, met in high school and have been writing, recording and touring in support of their albums over the course of the last 25 years. Guests of the show can expect all the nostalgia and comforting familiarity of the Billboard-charting hits “Walk on the Ocean,” “All I Want,” “Something’s Always Wrong” and “Fall Down,” but newer fans will also be well familiar with recent hits such as “California Wasted” which continues to climb the charts. Toad the Wet Sprocket is Glen Phillips (lead vocals, guitar), Dean Dinning (bass, vocals), Todd Nichols (lead guitar, vocals) and Randy Guss (drums).
Performing together for more than two decades, Rusted Root has honed the perfect combination of musical intuition, freedom and virtuosity, which has allowed them to organically shape their music into its own distinct and undeniable vision. With eight albums under their belt and upwards of three million records sold, Rusted Root transcends age, cultures and musical styles. Front man for the eclectic group, Michael Glabicki, cites the Bee Gees, Elvis Costello, Neil Young, Toni Childs, Black Keys, Black Sabbath and various Afro-Pop musicians as among his influences. The powerhouse ensemble’s hypnotic live performances have allowed them to tour alongside Santana, Dave Matthews Band, The Allman Brothers Band, Page & Plant and many others. Now with the release of their newest album, “The Movement,” the journey continues. Rusted root is Glabicki (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica, mandolin), Patrick Norman (bass, vocals, percussion), Liz Berlin (percussion, vocals), Corey Caruso (percussion, vocals) and Dirk Miller (guitar, vocals).
Doors for Toad the Wet Sprocket and Rusted Root open at 7 p.m. This show is for ages 18 and up. Tickets start at $35 (plus applicable service fees) and are on sale to the public Saturday, April 2 at 10 a.m. at the Brooklyn Bowl box office, by calling 877.987.6487 or online at http://ticketf.ly/1pHG59S.
