RUNNIN’ REBELS AT NEW MEXICO TUESDAY ON CBS SPORTS NETWORK
UNLV opens second half of Mountain West play at The Pit at 5 p.m. PT
The UNLV men’s basketball team will begin the second half of Mountain West play on the road as it travels to Albuquerque, N.M. to face New Mexico on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. MST/5 p.m. PST at WisePies Arena/The Pit (15,411).
UNLV (13-9, 4-5 MW) is coming off a 67-52 home loss to MW-leading San Diego State on Saturday. Prior to that, the Runnin’ Rebels defeated Boise State, 87-77, also at home, on Wednesday night. UNLV is 4-2 under Interim Head Coach Todd Simon.
The Runnin’ Rebels were 9-4 during their non-conference season, playing three top-15 teams. UNLV went 2-1 in such games recording wins vs. then-No. 13/14 Indiana at the Maui Invitational and vs. then-No. 15/16 Oregon at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The loss was at then-No. 13/12 Arizona.
New Mexico (13-8, 6-2) is in second place in the MW. The Lobos have won three straight: at San José State (83-64), vs. Air Force (84-55) and at Boise State (88-83).
UNLV defeated New Mexico, 86-74, in their first meeting of the season on Jan. 12 at the Thomas & Mack Center. It was the Runnin’ Rebels’ first game under Simon.
Tuesday’s game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network with Andrew Catalon and Steve Wolf calling the action, while Cassie McKinney will report from the sideline. Jon Sandler and Robert Smith will handle the UNLV radio broadcast, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 AM/100.9 FM.
