Comedian and MADtv Alum Aries Spears Returns to The Orleans Showroom Nov. 27-28
Comedian and actor Aries Spears returns to Las Vegas with his signature quick wit and charismatic stand-up comedy show at The Orleans Showroom Nov. 27 and 28.
Spears’ comedy career began at the age of 14 when he started making stand-up appearances at clubs in his hometown of New York City. His big break came in 1987 with his appearance on Russell Simmons’ “Def Comedy Jam” on HBO and “Showtime at the Apollo.”
After his initial appearances, Spears moved to Los Angeles in 1992 and landed a recurring role on NBC’s “A Different World.” Two years later, he branched out to the big screen with a role in “Home of Angels.” In 1996, he was cast as Cuba Gooding Jr.’s brother in the blockbuster hit “Jerry Maguire.”
Spears is well-known for his celebrity impressions, most notably Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and Robert De Niro, which he portrayed on the sketch comedy show “MADtv.” Spears was a regular cast member from 1997-2005, and was credited with one of the show’s most popular bits, “Talkin’ American.” At the end of his “MADtv” career, Spears released “I Ain’t Scared,” a two-disc comedy album featuring his original stand-up show and prank phone calls.
In 2006, Spears teamed up with Damon Wayans to create “The Underground,” a Showtime series reminiscent of the 1990s Emmy Award-winning comedy show “In Living Color.” The series featured a mix of recurring sketch characters, parodies and behind-the-scenes glimpses.
Spears most recently wrote and starred in the 2011 Showtime comedy concert, “Aries Spears: Hollywood, Look I’m Smiling,” his take on the hypocrisies of modern society.
The show begins at 8 p.m. and tickets are available starting from $39.95 plus tax and fees. Tickets can be purchased at any Boyd Gaming Box Office by calling 702.284.7777, or by visiting www.orleanscasino.com.
