Shibuya Street Tasting to Bring Authentic Tokyo Experience to MGM Grand Thursday, June 18
Experience Lively Entertainment, Fun Action Stations and Refreshing Sake Selections
Shibuya at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino will transform into an energetic Tokyo hotspot as the restaurant hosts “Shibuya Street Tasting” Thursday, June 18 from 9:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. Sponsored by Southern Wine & Spirits, the event will invite guests to experience entertainment, food and sake offerings that mimic the fun found in the bustling Japanese capital.
Guests are encouraged to attend in style through cosplay, or dress up, by wearing a costume of their favorite character from any movie, TV series, book, comic book, video game or band. A DJ will spin live music while costumed attendees capture their favorite moments in the photo booth.
A sizzling hot Teppanyaki action station will entice guests to watch mouth-watering Japanese fare cooked before their eyes. Whether it’s a rolling technique or learning about flavor combinations, guests will be on their way to becoming sushi experts during an interactive sushi demo led by the restaurant’s talented sushi chefs.
The evening also will feature passed Japanese street food selections created by Executive Chef Heather Zheng with offerings such as:
- Salmon Poke on Crispy Crostini; fresh, raw salmon salad served atop a crunchy baguette
- Takoyaki with Ginger and Kewpie; crispy dough filled with a mixture of a ginger and kewpie, a smooth, creamy Japanese mayonnaise made with rice vinegar.
- Beef Yakisoba; wheat flour grilled noodles served with beef
- Chicken Kushiyaki; grilled chicken cooked over an open flame and served on skewers
- Kurobuta Sausage Bun; sausage served in a steamed bun with Shishito pepper
- Karaage Chicken and Tofu; Japanese-style fried chicken cooked in garlic oil
A representative from Southern Wine & Spirits will be onsite to provide guests with tasting notes and information about the featured spirits including TY KU, SakéOne, World Sake Imports, Gekkeikan and Takara. In addition to a variety of sakes, the event highlights Asahi Black, a Japanese dark beer brewed from three types of dark roasted malt, giving it three distinct flavors.
The Shibuya Street Tasting is priced at $44.14 per person, all-inclusive. Guests 21 and over can purchase tickets by visiting MGM Grand online
