Get Lucky at the D and Golden Gate on St. Paddy’s Day

Downtown Las Vegas is gearing up for a weekend filled with St. Paddy’s day fun, with festivities kicking off tomorrow and running through the luckiest day of the year on Tuesday. From fun giveaways, drink specials, and even a group of competing firefighters, hotels such as the D and Golden Gate, as well as the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center will be going green.
  • Competing Firefighters The Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) will host Las Vegas Valley Firefighters’ annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Firefighter Fun Challenge on Tuesday, March 17. At noon, a parade of uniformed firefighters and honor guards led by Grand Marshal Terry Murphy of the Honorary Irish Consul to Nevada will gather at the Main Street Stage just outside Golden Gate Hotel & Casino. The group will be joined by festive bagpipers and step dancers as they make their way down the Fremont Street Experience to DLVEC to partake in the Firefighter Fun Challenge. Attendees can enjoy beer, cocktails and food while they cheer on teams of Vegas’ finest as they compete in a tricycle race, wheel barrel race, equipment run, tug of war, hose bowling and garden hose efficiency contest. Trophies will be awarded for individual events and an overall winner. Prize money will be donated to the winners’ charities of choice. The Firefighter Fun Challenge is free to attend and will take place from 1 – 5 p.m.

  • Shamrockin’ Live Music Just outside each casino’s doors on Main Street Stage (Golden Gate) and Third Street Stage (the D) revelers can enjoy free live performances Friday through Tuesday by Celtic punk bands and high-energy DJs including The Angry Brians, Finnegan’s Wake, Darby O’Gill and the Little People, Celtic Rockers and more.
  • Don’t Get Pinched!Players can make sure they’ve got green on with St. Paddy’s Day T-shirt giveaways at both properties. With a buy-in of $100 or more on table games at either casino, players will receive one “I got lucky at…” green T-shirt. Limit one T-shirt per person, per property, while supplies last.
  • Take A ‘Shot’zilla – Daring lads and lasses can take the party to the next level on SlotZilla Zoomline as they “fly” more than 10 stories above the sea of green partygoers below. For some genuine “Luck o’ the Irish” – also known as liquid courage to true Irishmen – guests can guzzle down ShotZilla before their flight. An eight-ounce, shamrock-hued libation, this gigantic green monster of a shot features a tasty blend of vodka, melon liqueur, Apple Schnapps and sweet and sour. ShotZilla is served 24/7 at D Bar at the D and OneBar at the Golden Gate for $7.
  • Cheers to Green Beer!Thousands of green-clad partiers will flood Fremont Street on Tuesday, March 17 for the Seventh Annual Downtown St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl. From 2 p.m. to midnight, the neighborhood’s hottest bars including D Bar, LONGBAR and Vue Bar (the D) and One Bar, Flair Bar and Bar Prohibition! (Golden Gate) will serve up festive drinks at prices that won’t cost imbibers a pot of gold.
  • Specials include:
  • $4 Green Beers
  • $5 Dirty Girl Scout Cookie Shots
  • $5 Irish Car Bombs
  • the D’s Annual St. Paddy’s Day BashPub crawlers and players alike are invited to the D’s annual St. Paddy’s Day Bash on Tuesday, March 17. Decked out in green, the casino will transform into a party where leprechauns dance on LONGBAR, green beer flows freely, four leaf clovers rain from the skies and the party doesn’t stop till the top o’ the mornin.’ Celebrants won’t need to travel all the way to the Emerald Isle to kiss the blarney stone for good luck. A relic from the legendary Blarney Castle resides at the D’s second-floor Vue Bar, where guests can partake in the age-old tradition of planting a kiss or rubbing the stone for good fortune.
