PATRICK MCCAW OUT FOR SATURDAY’S GAME

UNLV men’s basketball freshman guard diagnosed with concussion after suffering injury during two-point loss to San Diego State on Wednesday

UNLV men’s basketball freshman guard Patrick McCaw was diagnosed with having a concussion Thursday morning and has been ruled out for Saturday’s game at San José State.

McCaw was injured during the second half of the Runnin’ Rebels two-point loss to San Diego State at the Thomas & Mack Center on Wednesday night. After colliding with teammate Christian Wood with 14:20 left in the game, McCaw sat out the rest of the contest.

He will be evaluated daily.

McCaw, who has started each of the last 13 games for UNLV, had scored 20 or more points in three of the Runnin’ Rebels’ last five games leading up to Wednesday’s contest vs. the Aztecs. He averaged 16.2 points per game over those five games.

With McCaw out, UNLV will have just six scholarship student-athletes available for this weekend’s game vs. the Spartans.
