2014-15 Runnin’ Rebel Schedule | Ticket Information
The 2014-15 UNLV men’s basketball Mountain West schedule was announced Wednesday by the athletics department. As part of the announcement dates and television coverage on ESPN networks and CBS Sports Network were included. Game times and any other television appearances will be announced as they are confirmed.
Seventeen of UNLV’s 18 conference games have been selected for ESPN networks or CBS Sports Network. The Runnin’ Rebels will have 10 MW games on CBS Sports Network and seven on ESPN networks (ESPNU or ESPN3). It is also possible that some games may still be shifted from Wednesday to Tuesday or Saturday to Sunday for television purposes. Any such changes will be announced.
The Runnin’ Rebels will open their MW schedule this season on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at Wyoming, then will play their final non-conference game of the season at Kansas on Sunday, Jan. 4 before opening the home portion of conference play on Wed., Jan. 7 against Nevada, Reno at the Thomas & Mack Center. UNLV’s game at Nevada, Reno does not yet have a set date. It will be played on either Tuesday or Wednesday, Jan. 27 or 28.
UNLV’s one-time opponents for the 2014-15 conference season are Colorado State (will not host the Rams) and Fresno State (will not play the Bulldogs on the road). The Runnin’ Rebels’ bye date will be on Wednesday, Feb. 4. UNLV will play at Kansas instead of having a second bye date.
The MW Championship will once again be held at the Thomas & Mack Center on UNLV’s campus, running this year from March 11-14.
UNLV’s non-conference schedule was released in June. Three of those games have been picked up by ESPN networks or CBS networks and are: vs. Utah on Saturday, Dec. 20 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas (ESPN2 at 8:30 p.m. PT), vs. Arizona at home at the Thomas & Mack Center on Tuesday, Dec. 23 (CBSSN) and at Kansas (CBS).
UNLV men’s basketball head coach Dave Rice is entering his fourth season at the helm of the Runnin’ Rebel program. He has led UNLV to 71 wins over his first three years, which ranks second all-time at UNLV only to Hall of Fame coach Jerry Tarkanian (73 wins in his first three seasons in Las Vegas).
Under Rice, UNLV has won at least 20 games all three seasons and has played in two NCAA Tournaments (including earning its highest seed in 22 years). In addition, his teams have recorded seven victories over ranked teams, including one over the nation’s No. 1-ranked squad (North Carolina in 2011).
The Runnin’ Rebels recorded an overall mark of 20-13 last season and have a streak of 20 or more wins in each of the last eight years.
This year’s team welcomes eight new players to the 2014-15 roster. The 2014 recruiting class has been ranked as the fourth-best in the country by Rivals.com, only behind Duke, Kentucky and Arizona, and ahead of North Carolina, Louisville, Kansas, UCLA, Georgetown and Maryland.
A limited number of season tickets in the lower bowl of the Thomas & Mack Center for the 2014-15 UNLV men’s basketball season went on sale to the public on Monday. Seats are being offered on a first-come, first-served basis and may be purchased in person at the Thomas & Mack Center box office, by calling 702-739-FANS (3267) or online at UNLVtickets.com.
