NO. 24 REBELS TO PLAY IN TOURNAMENT AT OHIO STATE THIS WEEKEND
UNLV men’s golf, which has won two of its last four events, to compete at Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, Saturday-Sunday, April 12-13
The No. 24 UNLV men’s golf team will compete this weekend at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, which will be held Saturday-Sunday, April 12-13, at The Ohio State University Golf Club’s Scarlet Course (par 71, 7,455 yards) in Columbus, Ohio.
The 15-team, 54-hole tournament will consist of 36 holes played on Saturday and 18 on Sunday. Starts each day are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. ET (shotgun on Saturday, off No. 1 & 10 tees Sunday). The field will be made up of Ball State, Cleveland State, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Tech, Kent State, Liberty, Miami (OH), Missouri, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oregon State, Penn State, UAB, UNC Charlotte and UNLV.
The Rebels’ lineup includes junior Kurt Kitayama, junior Carl Jonson, sophomore AJ McInerney, sophomore Zane Thomas and freshman Taylor Montgomery.
The Kepler Intercollegiate was not played in 2013. Kent State (898) won the event in 2012, while Max Buckley (220) from SMU claimed medalist honors that year. UNLV last played in the tournament in 2002, when it captured the team title.
The Rebels have played in nine tournaments this season with three team victories, including two of the last four. In addition, UNLV has finished in the top four in five of nine events this year.
