NO. 22 UNLV MEN’S GOLF TIED FOR FOURTH AFTER FIRST DAY IN NEW MEXICO

2013 William H. Tucker Intercollegiate First Day Results
The No. 22 UNLV men’s golf team is tied for fourth place after two rounds at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, which is being played at the UNM Championship Course (par 72, 7,562 yards). The Rebels shot an opening-round 3-under-par 285, then followed with a second-round 20-over 308 during a windy Friday.
Arizona State is the only team under par at the event as the Sun Devils lead the field at 5-under 571. ASU shot an opening-round 4-under 284, then was 1-under 287 during the second round. Host New Mexico is 11 shots back in second place at 6-over 582, followed by BYU at 15-over in third. UNLV and USC are both tied for fourth at 17-over 593, while Minnesota is sixth at 20-over. The tournament features 17 teams.
TCU’s Julien Brun and Arizona State’s Jon Rahm are both tied for first individually at 4-under 140. Brun opened the tournament with a 3-under 69, then shot 71 during the second round, while Rahm shot 68-72. New Mexico’s Andrej Bevins is two shots back in third place at 2-under.
The Rebels were led individually by sophomore Zane Thomas, who is tied for fourth at 1-under 143 after shooting 69-74 on Friday. Junior Kurt Kitayama is tied for eighth at 1-over 145 after rounds of 70-75.
Other Rebels: junior Carl Jonson is tied for 37th at 8-over 152 (72-80), freshman Taylor Montgomery is tied for 40th at 9-over 153 (74-79) and freshman AJ McInerney is tied for 59th at 11-over 155 (75-80). Freshman Redford Bobbitt is competing as an individual and is tied for 50th at 10-over 154 (77-77). There are a total of 104 individuals.
