Register Now to Scale the Strat on March 2, 2014
Sixth Annual Extreme Stair Climb to take place at Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas, NV
It is called an extreme stair climb for a reason.
On Sunday, March 2, 2014, hundreds of athletes of all abilities will climb all 108 floors and 1,455 steps inside the iconic Stratosphere Tower, the highest building west of the Mississippi River, to raise money for the American Lung Association in Nevada’s mission of preventing lung diseases and promoting lung health.
You could be one of them.
For the sixth consecutive year, American Lung Association in Nevada (ALAN), Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield announce that registration is now open at www.ScaletheStrat.com for the Scale the Strat, on Sunday, March 2, 2014.
Discounts apply for early registration. Super Saver Registration is $40 for climbers who register before December 15, 2013; Early Bird Registration is $60 for climbers who register December 16, 2013 through February 16, 2014; and Regular and Walk-In Registration is $75 for climbers who register February 17, 2014 to March 2, 2014, the day of the climb. In addition to the registration fee, all climbers are asked to make a minimum fundraising pledge of $150. Online support and personal fundraising coaching is available on www.ScaletheStrat.com to help climbers achieve their fundraising goal.
Registration is limited and participants must be at least 18 years of age or older.
“Scale the Strat is our major fundraiser of the year,” said American Lung Association in Nevada Executive Director Allison Newlon Moser. “It has been exciting to see this extreme stair climb event grow. Each step represents the steps we are taking together to fight lung disease in Southern Nevada.”
In 2013, a record 560 people signed up to participate in Scale the Strat and raised an unprecedented $175,000 for the American Lung Association in Nevada.
For the sixth annual Scale the Strat, the competition will once again be streamlined into one day of climbing. A staggered shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. will allow each participant to scale the stairs inside the iconic Tower once. Awards will be presented at the end of the day for fastest times and other achievements in various categories.
Stair climbs have become unique, signature fundraising events for the American Lung Association. Sometimes called a “vertical road race”, participants can use the climb as a fitness target or competitive race. But many climbers have a personal reason why they climb: lung disease has impacted the life of someone they love.
“Scale the Strat is becoming one of the premier stair climbs in the country and we are proud to support and partner with the American Lung Association in Nevada in its fight against lung disease,” said Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower General Manager Paul Hobson. “Our team is committed to providing each athlete and their friends and families an exceptional stay and experience at Stratosphere.”

Anthem has been a proud sponsor of the Scale the Strat since the event began. Our parent company recently partnered with the American Lung Association nationwide with a $1.5 million grant to support smokers in their efforts to quit for good through the ALA’s “Quitter in You” smoking cessation program that will roll out in Nevada and 14 other markets this year.
